Changes – by Luke
Today we have to make a decision. It is now the second day in a row that we spend entirely in the car. Of course, the scenery is still fantastic but Luke share now Emmas thoughts, that this is not what we are looking for. Of course, this is Mongolia and we have to take it how it is. We missed it to engage a guide, so we always have to look for somebody who speaks english. Because it IS remote and the roads ARE bad, but as long as we have the chance to change something we should do that. So we don’t go directly to the west as planned. We take the way from where we are now back to Ulan Bator, which takes us five instead of twelve days. The Money we save Emma may use for a Gobi-Trip and I’ll fly to where we are supposed to drive to. It will be equal with the money and we are able to see more sights like the old capital of Karakorum, some famous hot springs and also our drivers home. Sounds complicated, but in the end it makes more then just sense.
So all is fine again and we are lucky, that we did not start to fight or something … we seem to be a pretty good team. :D Not only that. It’s also a new motivation to see more and also learn more about the country of blue sky.
Today we arrived after another nine hours bumpy car ride at the white lake and made friends with a danish couple. Fortunately they have the same goal for tomorrow, which is to reach the top of the volcano next to the lake. So we team up and even our drivers seem to like this idea.
The only thing that remains unclear, is, what will happen to our hitchhiker Lama, who became like a part of the crew. How will he get to his hometown, that we were supposed to reach on our first route? … there is some potential for trouble.
